Veiled Ladies

  • Dupont Underground 19 Dupont Circle Northwest Washington, DC, 20036 United States (map)

EXHIBITION: Veiled Ladies

Presented by Dupont Underground | Paintings by Dee Levinson
Curated by Gaby Mizes

Thirty-one paintings explore identity, concealment, and the enduring symbolism of the veil.

Veiled Ladies comprises thirty-one intimately scaled paintings by artist Dee Levinson, taking its departure from an eighteenth-century sculpture of a Vestal priestess at the National Gallery of Art. The series serves as a contemporary meditation on how women have been seen, obscured, protected, and revealed throughout history.

Levinson's intimate paintings function as a unified, immersive installation probing the interplay between visibility and concealment, vulnerability and resilience.
