EXHIBITION: Veiled Ladies

Presented by Dupont Underground | Paintings by Dee Levinson (Curated by Gaby Mizes)

Thirty-one paintings explore identity, concealment, and the enduring symbolism of the veil in the subterranean vaults of Dupont Underground.

Veiled Ladies comprises thirty-one intimately scaled paintings by artist Dee Levinson, transforming half of Dupont Underground's 15,000-square-foot subterranean arts space. Taking its departure from an eighteenth-century sculpture of a Vestal priestess at the National Gallery of Art, the series serves as a contemporary meditation on how women have been seen, obscured, protected, and revealed throughout history.

Staged against raw concrete architecture, Levinson's intimate paintings function as a unified, immersive installation probing the interplay between visibility and concealment, vulnerability and resilience. On view concurrently with Paola Podestá’s The Skin of Discomfort.
