Black Lives Matter photojournalism exhibit curated by Dupont Underground and Shedrick Pelt

Curated by Dupont Underground & Shedrick Pelt rise up. was an exhibition featuring photographs taken of the Black Lives Matter 2020 Uprising in Washington, D.C. Through an interactive virtual gallery and on-site show at the famous Dupont Underground, the exhibition aimed to create a space for photographers of all backgrounds — even the most junior of photographers — to share their experience with the movement.

In the District and across the nation, people are rising up against the systematic oppression faced by the African American community and other marginalized people day in and day out, and social media activism is bringing this revolutionary moment to the world. Our Rise Up exhibition captured this energy and offered a glimpse into American history-in-the-making. The exhibition opened October 2, 2020 and was extended several times until its closing on January 12, 2021.
