Pens and Swords is an open mic experience. Prepare to go on a roller coaster ride of emotions and have your mind blown. Arrive with an open heart, mind, and soul because this a home for all to share their truth!

Pens and Swords is an open mic experience. Artists will share their truth and raise their voice in the name of savage advocacy and activism! For two hours, audiences can expect to be amazed by a diverse array of poets, musicians, and monthly-featured artists. Hosted by C. Alexandria-Bernard Thomas at Dupont Underground.

Performing artist: Pi-Anir the Poet

Pi-Anir the Poet, a Spoken Word artist from Chicago’s West side by way of Ft. Lauderdale FL is an avid writer and performer. A uniquely vast poet whose life of adversity is the prelude to her greatest stories, Pi-Anir is descriptive with an invigorating outlook. Her Poetic body of work includes a host of local venues across the US and her recently released book entitled: To the Goddess in my Garden; A book of Poetry and Self Reflection. Pi-Anir has opened for artists such as Sunni Patterson and Maimouna Youssef (Mumu Fresh), has also mentored young writers and developed creative writing and poetry programs to expose at-risk teens to Poetry in a non-traditional sense.
This multifaceted artist is well versed in the extremely soft to absolutely hardcore raw emotions, and is not timorous to convey what she believes in.

This space is accessible ONLY through stairs (no elevators) and the closest bathrooms are in upstairs businesses.
