DC’s Royals: A Celebration of Drag

  • Dupont Underground 19 Dupont Circle Northwest Washington, DC, 20036 United States (map)

Dupont Underground and The Washington Blade are proud to present:

DC Royals: A Celebration of Drag

This event is a celebration of the members of the drag community, specifically focusing on the drag culture in the DC area throughout recent years. We want to honor the roots of drag in America authentically while also celebrating the power, pride, and leadership that define the drag community. The multiplexity of DC cannot be understood without including the history of drag which inspired a generation to embrace their power and raise their voices.

This Event has two parts: (1) an Exhibition and (2) a Live Drag Show.

The Exhibition showcases photographs gathered from the archives of the Washington Blade Magazine and video footage from interviews with Drag Queen Shi-Queeta-Lee and Drag King Pretty RikE. The photographs and interviews offer a glimpse into the past and explore the future of what drag is becoming as a culture and as an art form.

The Live Drag Show features numerous drag artists and is catered by our Red Line Bar.

Event Times:

Royals Exhibition: 3:00p - 7:00p

Live Drag Show: 8:00p - 10:00p

There will be a live news crew filming the event. By purchasing tickets for this event, you agree to have your face captured and broadcasted publicly.
